Director Midi Z is a Chinese ethnic who moved from Burma to Taiwan when he was young.
A review of the film said: “This fiction film, while preserving an ultra-realistic documentary feel, is also inspired by classic Taiwanese new wave principles: he uses a largely still camera, with beautifully framed long takes and sequence shots that slowly reveal, with precise intensity, the essential reality of a part of rural Burma at a critical moment of its history.”

Guo Xiaolu will attend the festival to present the film, Q&A with audience and hold a masterclass.
She is also a novelist (UFO IN HER EYES was her novel before she turned it into a film, produced partly by German film funding and partly by renowned auteur director Fatih Akin) .One of her book “A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers” was nominated for an Orange Prize.
