Doomsday Book aka ‘The Fall of Humanity’, follows the same formula as previous films such as ‘Three extremes’ or ‘Four Rooms’ in which the film is split until 3 or 4 stories all linked together by a common theme.
In the case of Doomsday the short stories all focus on humanity (ending, changing, threatening).
As with ‘Three Extremes’ and ‘Four Rooms’ the stories are brought together by a stellar cast as well as renowned directors.
Doomsday book features a top cast including Park Hae-il (“Arrow, The Ultimate Weapon“), Kim Kang-woo(“Hello Schoolgirl“) and Song Sae-byeok (“Sector 7“).
Plot Lines
First Chapter (“Heaven’s Creation”) – Director Kim Ji-woon:
A story about a robot who gains consciousness and the abusrdity that follows.
Second Chapter (“The New Generation”) – Director Lim Pil-seong:
A clever action film told from the point of view of a boy who has become a zombie, this segment explores how humans lose control of planet Earth, becoming mere food for a different species.
Third Chapter (“The Christmas Gift”) – Director Han Jae-rim:
A musical movie that re-interprets the beautiful love story “The Christmas Gift” by O Henry, this project confronts the basic instincts of a woman and her last chance to survive after witnessing the end of the world.
Doomsday is due for release in April 2012 (Korea)
Lets hope that this ends up more like ‘Three Extremes’ and less like the ‘train wreck’ that was ‘Four Rooms’
