After six years in the making and record-breaking audiences in South Korea, Well Go USA Entertainment is finally bringing The Wailing to the west with a penned release date of 6th September for digital services, and 4th October for Blu-ray™ and DVD.
Starring Jun Kunimura (Kill Bill: Vol: 1 & 2), Woo-hee Chun (Mother, The Beauty Inside), Do Won Kwak (The Man from Nowhere, The Attorney) and Jung-min Hwang (The Himalayas, New World), The Wailing was a record-breaking success at the South Korean box-office, with large numbers of people committing to multiple viewings as they attempted to piece together the complex mystery at the heart of the film.
Racking up a ‘Fresh’ 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and winning the Prix-AQCC (Association Québécoise des Critiques de Cinéma) at the 2016 Fantasia International Film Festival, The Wailing is this year’s critical darling for fans of the thriller-genre.
Plot Summary:
The appearance of a mysterious foreigner in a quiet country village sparks suspicion, and eventually mass hysteria, as a series of brutal yet seemingly unprovoked murders ripple through the community. As police are sent to investigate, the situation rapidly deteriorates as their actions escalate the situation into something far more dangerous than anybody could ever imagine.
