Chinese-speaking territories in Asia and abroad will have access to a new movie channel from next month.
The new channel, Now Popcorn Movie Channel is a joint venture between China’sHuayi Brothers Media Corporation 華誼兄弟傳媒股份有限公司 and a trio of Hong Kong companies, Edko Films Ltd 安樂影片有限公司, Shine Focus/We Pictures and pay-TV platform operator nowTV, part of PCCW. Popcorn will be available from 15 March 2012 on nowTV and taken to other territories later.
The channel’s main focus will be on first-run local and Asian movies, while also delivering film information and cultural programming.
Movies expected to be available at launch include
Beach Spike and The Lost Bladesman (Donnie Yen).
