With November officially at an end, it’s time to see the official rank of the Korean films, which made their debut over the month. Topping the charts were the UK and US films, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and “Doctor Strange” with over $26,000,000 and $21,000,000 in total gross net respectively. The next several entries were Korean films. “My Annoying Brother” took the third spot with over $9,000,000 in revenue.
The fourth place film, “Luck-Key,” was released mid-October, and was the top box office release for that month. “Luck-key’s” lucky streak in the box office continued in November as the film gained over $8,000,000 in revenue. Fifth place was held by the Korean film, “Split,” and made over $5,000,000 in revenue. Another popular title, “Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned” made it into the top 10, landing in 6th place and raking in over $3,000,000 in total gross net. Two other US based films placed in the list, “Ouija: Origin of Evil,” and “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” in 7th and 10th place with over $2,000,000 and $500,000 in revenue respectively. Overall the Korean box office for the month of November was a mixed representation of US- and Korean-made films. “Luck-Key,” continued to hold its impressive presence in the box office by landing in the top 5. December is usually the time of year some of the strongest US releases of the year are out, and it will be interesting to see if this is reflected in the South Korean box office by month’s end.
